Possible Models Diagrams: a new approach to teaching propositional logic

This was a research Masters thesis I completed in 1994 at the University of Natal in South Africa. In this dissertation, I describe an approach to teaching propositional logic that I developed for first year computer science students. I examine both the technical and pedagogical soundness of the approach and then analyse some statistics about the effectiveness of the approach in the classroom.

Although the approach was interesting in its visual novelty, in the end it probably did not improve most students’ ability to grasp the underlying content.
