She

What words can describe the sorrow in her eyes?
Who understands the pain that she hides?

A friend, no doubt.,
Compassion and Care.,
Though friendship is strained,
by projected despair.,
“Don’t ignore me” she cries,
self-protection her guide.,
Not defenceless,
but undefended.

A Christian, no doubt.,
Kindness and Faith.,
Though Christ’s imminence fades,
under doubt’s heavy weight.,
“Why’s it so hard?” she pleas,
it’s Assurance she needs.,
Not Spiritless,
but unspirited.

A worker, no doubt.,
Perseverance and Strength.,
Though working is joyless,
when God’s presence is scarce.,
“Where’s the guidance?” she cries,
no security inside.,
Not directionless,
but undirected.

A woman, no doubt.,
Passion and Love.,
Though passion misleads,
if not led from above.,
“No longer alone” she sighs,
setting her history aside.,
Not unholy,
but not yet whole.
